You came to me quite late in life

When love had passed me by;

Your friendship seemed to fill a need

That I could not deny.

Our paths in life had been diverse

For you had never wed,

While I had married and was blest

With family clothed and fed.

But lack of spouse had not deterred

Your friendly nature's way,

Your friends are legion, family too,

They fill your life each day.

Your working days have been employed

In business and finance;

While I the twin vocations chose

Of music and science.

Our varied interests were diverse

But yet there was one place

Where we could meet on common ground

The Church there by God's grace.

Now business is not my strong point,

Finance I can't command.

For you is science a closed book,

My music you don't understand.

I never fail to be amazed

How you can manage men

And money in accounting ways

From one right up to ten.

So we were wed and since that day

A wondrous team we've been.

We complement each other's way

And make a life serene.

Now sometimes we may disagree

And even use harsh talk;

But anger never lasts too long,

We hide it in a sock.

From early childhood you have known

Much suffering and much pain,

But you have borne it with a smile

In sunshine or in rain.

But all my life I have been blest

With good health all the way

Except small ills that age brings on

Annoying us each day.

But since we wed you undertook

To keep me strong and well

With diets that are sensible,

Activities that tell.

My wardrobe you have supervised

To keep me quite well dressed,

And when I'm in society

I'm up there with the best.

Your wardrobe too is smart and fine,

In good taste every way.

I'm proud to be your escort when

We go abroad each day.

So through a quarter century

We've had a goodly life,

And I can say - I love you June,

I'm glad you are my wife.
